A message from Rosie
I found my way to the beauty industry and curly hair after career hopping through film making, social justice organizing, circus arts, and puppetry. My work within self-empowerment and body positivity movements led me to feel deeply at odds with rigid beauty molds even though I was drawn toward the beauty industry. I wanted to work in a salon community where looking good, feeling good, being good to the earth and each other all grew together. I wanted a salon where all hair is good hair, all bodies are good bodies, and where there are infinite ways to be beautiful. I decided the best way to live your dream is to make it happen. Breaking free of society’s beauty “shoulds” is a big job for all of us, so I gave myself permission to create Curl Power as a salon and community dedicated to inclusion and diversity. I especially invite my LGBTQI+ family of all genders to this salon, where we understand the importance of a safe and validating space to be heard, explore and express who you are.
Empowerment. Beauty. Artistry. Justice.
Hair transitions: We take particular joy in assisting with all types of hair transitions, whether from
chemically straightened to natural texture,
easing your color into to natural silver and gray,
or altering your gender presentation.
